A hard fought match against Chiltern 1st team ended 1-0 and another 3 points on the board!
We got off to a great start passing well, finding space and creating early chances. As the game continued 0-0, Chiltern pressed high and with their "chaotic" playing style, they managed to put us off our stride, making us rush our passes and our decision making. It made for a scrappy game.
However, we tried to stick to our plan and stay composed. We were rewarded before half time with a fantastic reverse stick shot from Molly, to deservedly go 1-0 up. It seem to settle us down a little as we then found more space and time. In the second half we thought we had got the 2nd and sealed the win, when a shot from debutant Melissa kicked up from the keeper, hit her body and went in, without the luxury of VAR , the umpires had to consult and awarded a short corner! Unfortunately, we could not capitalise on this and our many other short corners - more practice required on Wednesday at training.
A big hearted performance from everyone to withstand some late pressure. We will take a 1-0 all day long!
