We were up against East London this week at home, luckily meaning we could look much cooler than them in our tangerine strip.
The game started pretty even with both teams having a good amount of possession. The tempo was high, which led to some breakaway attempts from the St Albans forward line. However, we weren’t able to capitalise despite some near attempts.
The score line remained 0-0 at half time, and the second half started like the first. Unfortunately, East London were able to sneak a very impressive goal past us; hit in from behind the 25 for one of their forwards to get a one-touch deflection, netting the only goal of the game.
St. Albans responded by calling a Pamela. Our press was high and aggressive, pinning the ball in our attacking half. We had some very good chances, but East London set their defence well to win the game 1-0.
A very high tempo game with everyone working extremely hard. A little bit of luck on our side could have seen us sneak a point, but it was a good game nevertheless.
