Our campaign for the second half of the season began at home against City of Peterborough in front of a large crowd. The first half saw St Albans soak up a lot of pressure and our efforts were rewarded with a short corner, which subsequently led to a flick. Zaza stepped up, cool as a cucumber, and calmly slotted the ball into the corner. BOOM.

Peterborough came back strong, equalising before half time, but it wasn't long before St Albans regained both composure and control of the game. The defence played out of their skin; transfer after transfer followed by some amazing balls down the line to find the forwards who had snuck in behind the Peterborough defence. Persistence paid off with a short corner that was beautifully executed by Lissy - a rocket of a strike from the top of the D (cue jumping jack celebration, all limbs in the air).

Peterborough did not wise up quickly enough, leaving our forwards to continuously find space in behind. It wasn't long before Spidey was able to run the baseline and slip the ball to Chloe who slid in to slice the ball home on reverse. Final score - 3-1 to St Albans in front of a dreamy home crowd. Starting 2020 as we mean to go on!
