After a disappointing game and result against Blueharts (1-1) last time out, we were determined to get back to winning ways. After a very fast start and showing our attacking intent, it didn't take long to open the scoring, player of the match, Lauren was on target on 11 minutes to settle any nerves. The shape, game play and commitment were all outstanding and it wasn't long before we were 2- 0 up, Nikki on 19 minutes and then Jasmin 5 minutes later to really make the game ours. Just before half time Gemma scored an absolute screamer from the top of the D, not sure she could have hit it any harder! And it should have been more, the Broxbourne keeper made a number of fantastic saves.
We were trying for a clean sheet this week, but the Broxbourne centre forward was proving to be quite a handful and broke away early in the second half with a solo effort and a consolation goal. The work rate of everyone in this squad is proving to be a key feature, someone loses the ball, they chase back and win it back, no one is strolling about if the opposition turn over possession. This new squad have settled in very quickly and are proving a tough act to beat. With continued relentless pressure, once again the Broxbourne keeper made another set of fine saves, but Nikki scored the 5th with a well taken effort on 47 minutes. It could have been double figures!
Player of the match: A number of contenders once again but Lauren Caldwell was the clear winner.
