In conditions that were the complete opposite of last week, the early sun shone on the L5's. The build up play was glorious, the passing scintillating and the effort was sparkling. Unfortunately once again, completely against the run of play and defying all the possession stats, Welwyn scored! Here we go again. We are a very attacking side, a side that never gives up and a side that works hard right to the end, thank goodness. Patience and persistence resulted in the equaliser very soon after with a brilliant converted shot from a short corner by Captain Gemma, you little gem!
Relax. Half time, go again. Well, half way through the second half, how it was still 1-1 we don't know. Short corner after short corner, attack after attack, the 5's were very goal shy and a tad wasteful. Play our game was the message, keep the ball moving, reduce the dribbling into contact. A fantastic move and cross from the right and there was Player of the Match; Lauren to sweep it in at the back post. At last! St Albans survived a late scare when Welwyn shot wide and the final whistle couldn't come soon enough. Here's to a clean sheet soon.
