From the 1-0 victory from last week, the 7s were looking to increase their win streak against Stevenage. Taza returned after a week break and had his captaincy returned to him from Chris.
Pre-match the squad was setting up when Sam prophesied that he was going to score a goal and everyone was aquatinted with our debutant, Felix.
The 7s start of the game strong with a strong press, winning the ball high. The ball was played to Simon on the right flank and as he danced past 2 players Sam made a darting run into the centre of the D ready for a composed finish to open the scoring.
Their first goal came from a short corner which after the first shot, was blocked and the second hit Sammy in the chest and fell for an easy tap in for the opposition. After careful consideration, the goal was given and not penalised for being dangerous.
As the game progressed, the umpiring began to become a bit questionable after Ronan was given a stern talking to after not being 5. Simon got an underserved green card for a first time offence of not being 5 meters away and this began the hailing of cards given out by the umpires.
Toward the end of the half, Simon was going in for a challenge and was floored unintentionally by teammate, Chris. Some would say he looked angelic as he crashed to the floor.
As the second half began, the 7s looked quite shakey and conceded goal and everyone's heads dropped after that. Tommy was next to get a card, this time being a yellow which was completely undeserved for "using too much shoulder". The umpires gave the two captains of the team for being too physical and wanted the players to calm it down.
The opposition were awarded a short corner due to a player's immaculate acting, falling to the ground after a challenge. We defended it well and were quickly on the break down the right wing and Simon with a great piece of skill won a short at the other end. Which ended up with him winning DotD because of his awful injection that barely made it out of the D.
The opposition won a P flick after Oscar took a player out while one on one and Oscar was very unlucky to save it after diving the right way making it 3-1. Lucas was the 3rd victim of the umpires card spree after getting a green for the same reason as Simon.
Matt was the last of the trigger happy umpires as he was given a yellow for, yet again, not being 5.
This concluded the game and after a good team performance but unlucky result as St Alban's Men's 7s lost, ending their winning streak. Man of the match was awarded to Sam and yours truly, was given dick of the day
