Wet wet wet. To win or to draw?

Man of the Match: Josh Hancock. Match Report: Jonah Howley.

On an afternoon in the rain we were weary of the conditions placing MO in command of our back line running a tight ship. Lord Hatfield and Jonty running fullbacks warding off their advances. Unfortunately disaster struck with an early blow but we recovered from conceding home to Potters in a vicious first-half display - no quarter given and “to the whistle” as they say.

Many goals from Sandipan Chanda, Nick Barton and Jake Dell up top saw us advance beyond Potters Bar to win our third league game in style on Saturday afternoon, we are unstoppable, a force to be reckoned with. 3 for 3!

Fun fact St. Albans Mens 6th team won their first league appearance this year 23-0 an astonishing victory for the tangerines.

Sandi managed to nab himself a hat-trick before the close of the first half. Slotting every assist from Jonah that came his way, no slips, no feet, no back stick, simply pinpoint accuracy from my “man of the match”. Pressure did not get the best of him despite the conditions a great performance. Making the score 3-1 I believe before the break.

The Ben West super sub was an ingenious decision with the first 5 minutes of the second half he slotted a flick top bins making the most of the shirt corner won by Jonah. We’ve now scored 27 goals since the start of the season taking charge of the league.

We then in the dying moments of the game when I’m pretty sure we were winning (I’d have to ask around) Nick Barton dribbled through the rather rowdy defence. He made a ball through to Jonah who drew the keeper out and offloaded to Sandi for a fourth I’m pretty sure… maybe his second. We might’ve had a few goals disallowed now that I think about it?? Let me double check now…

Oops… it would seem I have an embellished memory of the game…

Alas we did not win as I had initially thought. We all know that we dominated that game despite the constant whining and appealing of Potters Bar everyone put in a shift and we were very unlucky not to have won. Hence when it came to Man of the Match it was easy everyone could name someone… played a great game. However Match report duties were passed to myself for simply misunderstanding the final result :(
