Meeting under the shelter of a big tree in Clarence Park, the W7s were ready for action in the drizzling rain. The first half was an onslaught on the beleaguered Harpenden defence, and the ball barely left our half. The umpires were on everything, with a warning for Maddy 'The Lumberjack' Wilding, and several sharp admonishments for barging and stick tackles. Classic 7s hockey.
In the second half, the Skillbecks' cheerleading team turned up, inspiring Skillbeck junior and senior to score a lovely family hat-trick, but let's not talk about that missed open goal shall we?
Full-time score was 3-0, a well-deserved first win of the season, and afterwards in the Crown over drinks and crisps we discussed the big themes of the day: the Parkes' weird cat; Lisa's juggernaut of a social life; how Kerri's doing; and the art of 'Social Channelling'.
