Ladies 5s - Cliché - Fight to the Final Whistle!

A new look Ladies 5's, fresh from a 9-0 win last week, found an experienced Stevenage side tough to break down. They found themselves 1-0 down early on after a rare defensive mix up. Despite the lion's share of possession being with St Albans, this is how is stayed until half time. A key change to the team formation made a huge difference as Stevenage had two of their strongest players in the middle of the pitch. They were then able to control the middle and at last win this battle. An equaliser soon followed with an excellent shot and goal from Lauren Caldwell. Stevenage then found themselves pinned back, but attack after attack and shot after shot came to nothing. But the 5s were not ready to give up, patience and hard work paid off in the dying seconds, when finally, with probably the last attack of the game, Dominique Smith slotted the ball home. A well deserved 2-1 win, but they were certainly made to work for it.
