Paul Cooper
Coaching at St Albans HC 7 of 10

7. Paul Cooper

Head of Men's Performance Hockey

Paul has played for St Albans since he was seven years old, representing the first team from 2001. He was instrumental in that team's promotion into the National League Division 2 and Division 1 in successive seasons, as well as a season in the National Premier Division. During this time he also attended two National Indoor Finals nights.

At university, he played two seasons with Canterbury HC and then made the short journey across the county to Holcombe HC. He returned to St Albans in 2007 and captained the first team for seven seasons.

He has coached the St Albans indoor first team for a number of years, achieving success in the National League. Paul has also performed the role of Men’s 2s Player / Coach in the last few years, and now is ready to move up into the exciting role and take the Men’s 1s & 2s sides to the next level.

Paul will continue the club’s long tradition of nurturing and developing our young talent and has the vision of our Men’s 2s returning to the East Prem division and our Men’s 1s experiencing the next level of National League Hockey.

Paul will also continue to coach the Men’s Indoor Hockey squad and build upon the club’s recent indoor success to take them back to the top of the National Indoor Hockey scene.

Paul said, “I am delighted to be leading the Men’s Performance squad coaching and hopefully giving others the opportunities that I have benefited from over the years. St Albans Hockey Club has been an important part of my life and this is a natural step in my connection with the club.”
