St.Albans Hockey Club - About

About St Albans HC

About our club.

We were formed in 1888 and are now based at Oaklands College on Hatfield Road. We are a big and expanding club with great outdoor and indoor hockey facilities and clubhouse. We currently run 17 teams for men and women with 300+ senior playing members (aged 14 to 70+), 500+ social members and 220+ Sunday morning juniors. We also run summer hockey, holiday camps, disability hockey and a schools scheme.

We have strong links to England Hockey: our 1st team Head Coaches are England and GB Manager Andy Halliday and England and GB player Hannah Macleod. Our senior goalkeeping coach is former England and GB goalkeeper and current England and GB women’s Manager John Hurst. Our Hockey Development Officer is England and GB’s Ellie Watton, our new Club Head Coach is England and GB Under 21 international Martin Scanlon and our Head of Development is England U16 Boys Manager Mike Lloyd.

Our life and soul are our members and friends who make the club what it is and the very large team of volunteers who run the club. There is something for everyone at SAHC. So get in touch or come on over to Oaklands!

Everyone is welcome – whatever their age, ability or experience.
