Play for us
You know you want to!
Twenty one teams play each Saturday!
With over 400 playing members, St. Albans is one of the largest clubs in the UK. We run over twenty regular teams and cater for all ages and abilities. If you live in or around the St.Albans area, there are plenty of reasons to join us that hopefully this website demonstrates!
Our men's and ladies' first teams are among the top sides in the country. They attract large crowds for their home games and any club member that has attended the National Indoor finals will tell you that supporting the club is just as much fun as playing!
Here are some frequently asked questions about playing for us:
Who do I contact?
You will find contact details at the bottom of this page and also on the Contact Us page in this section of the website. You will see that Juniors have a dedicated co-ordinator, so contact Nick Edmonds in this instance.
How can I start getting involved?
Trials day is held at Clarence Park at the beginning of the season. Men and ladies have separate trials days. If you miss this don't worry, come down to club training on Tuesday at 7pm at Clarence Park and introduce yourself on arriving!
What team will I play for?
Selection for both men and ladies is on a Monday night. We will do our utmost to match your ability with the correct team. Don't get discouraged if at first you get put with one higher or lower than your ability, it happens to most of us!
Playing and supporting! The 'Tangerine Army' at the National Indoor Finals night at Crystal Palace
How can I get club kit?
To play for a team, we do expect you to have club kit. This can be obtained from the club shop, to find out more, click here
When will I know if I have been selected?
One of the captains will normally call you on a Tuesday or Wednesday to tell you where and when you are playing. If this doesn't happen immediately, don't worry, your chance will come ... keep coming to training. All teams and meet times are posted on the notice board in the clubhouse.
When do matches start?
Matches normally take place on Saturday and will be in the London, Herts, Beds or Bucks area. Since most matches are now played on astroturf, start times vary from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm. Your captain will tell you where and when to meet.
How much does it cost?
We run a subscription-based membership system, and the cost varies depending on your circumstances and your age. The subscription covers all your match and training fees. Therefore the more you are available and play, the better value you get from your membership!
